"When I was a little girl we used to make Christmas gingerbread houses from scratch with my grandma every year. She would make the best smelling homemade gingerbread. My job was to help roll out dough and cut the house shapes. Grandma would let us use the extra dough to make cute little gingerbread cookies. After everything was baked and cooled we would decorate the houses intricately with loads of pretty piped white royal icing and red and green candy. We always placed a cute Santa by the door, candy canes on the rooftop and bottle brush Christmas trees in the fluffy royal icing lawn. I loved leaving gingerbread cookies and milk for Santa, and listening for reindeer on Christmas Eve. These days I get to experience even more Christmas magic with my own kids, making our own gingerbread houses, decorating the tree, wrapping pretty presents and helping them hang their stockings with care." - Kelsey Carlson
